For Daniel Porter, choosing Capitol Technology University came down to two key things: “Capitol's focus on robotics and mechanical engineering was my biggest interest,” he says. “And the close-knit community, with students and teachers, really stood out to me.”
Now a junior in the mechatronics and robotics engineering technology program, Daniel is focused on turning his big ideas into real-world solutions. His dream business idea was inspired by his family, but his long-term goal is to use innovation to benefit wider communities.
Daniel is also actively involved in campus life. He works in the university library, helping students and faculty with everything from checking out materials to printing documents. He also holds several leadership roles: president of the Athletics Club, secretary/vice president of the Robotics Club, and student ambassador. You’ll also find him on Capitol’s Call of Duty esports team.
What is the secret to his undergraduate success? “Having balance is key to getting through college,” he says. “Making sure you divide your time so that you are staying on track and you get what you need to get done, but also that you are not overwhelmed.”
Daniel’s time at Capitol reflects his commitment to both learning and leadership. Whether he’s organizing robotics events, supporting fellow students, or developing new ideas, he’s laying the foundation for a future in engineering that’s rooted in both innovation and world-changing impact.
